Keyword research and improving your organic search result on Google can sometimes be a nightmare if you don’t know what you’re doing.
I’ve put together 5 easy steps you can take right now to see if you are including the right Keywords on your website and how you can improve your Keyword research if needs be;
1 CREATE A STARTER-LIST OF KEYWORDS
Create a starter-list of about five keywords you think relates to your business or topic. These are search terms that you think your audience will enter into Google to find your product or service.
Google Search your Keyword ideas and see how many results were given for your search term. You will also see a list of URLs with the same keywords – take note because these are your competitors! You can also take this opportunity to view the listed products on Google Shopping to get a more information on your competitors.
Head over to Google Trends and check how your keywords have been trending over the previous 12 months. Ideally you will want to see an increase in the trend.
This tool is also great for showing the interest in the topic by region or city so you can further market your products/services to those areas.
5 FINALISE YOUR KEYWORD LIST
Go back over your original Keyword ideas compared to what you have gained in the above steps and review your selection. If organic ranking difficulty is high you may need to change your search terms and find other popular keywords that aren’t extremely hard to beat. It’s important to remember that SEO is an ongoing process and needs to be evaluated on a regular basis to ensure you are up to date with search trends and your competition.
